Job Summary

CT Mechanical is seeking a seasoned Operations Manager to lead branch operations for our Orlando and Tampa locations, with responsibility spanning HVAC/R, mechanical, plumbing, and pipe fitting trades. The role provides direct operational oversight of all field and project activities across these disciplines, ensuring that HVAC, plumbing, and pipe fitting work is planned, staffed, executed, and closed out safely, profitably, and to a high standard of quality.

You will manage project profitability, forecast labor needs, coordinate materials and fabrication, and drive operational efficiency across the Orlando branch, while collaborating with leaders in Gainesville, Jacksonville, and Tampa. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong experience in commercial HVAC/R and plumbing/pipe fitting operations, the ability to lead diverse mechanical trades teams, and a commitment to client satisfaction and our core values.

Responsibilities
  • Branch Operations and Financial Performance:
    Own overall operational performance for the Orlando and Tampa branches across HVAC/R, plumbing, pipe fitting, and related mechanical scopes; ensure financial goals are met and net profit is maximized while safety, quality, and client satisfaction are maintained; review project budgets, labor reports, and job cost reports; forecast and manage labor hours by trade with a rolling 3-month look ahead.
  • Trade and Project Oversight:
    Provide operational direction to HVAC, plumbing, and pipe fitting teams on active projects and service work; ensure proper planning and coordination between trades to prevent conflicts and delays; support project managers with constructability, means and methods, and scheduling decisions; oversee warranty work and ensure timely resolution of issues across all mechanical trades.
  • People Leadership:
    Recruit, manage, and develop field staff, project managers, project coordinators, and fabrication/warehouse personnel; set clear performance, safety, quality, and behavior expectations; conduct regular one-on-one meetings and team discussions; provide coaching and development opportunities; foster a collaborative, “one team” culture.
  • Vendor, Subcontractor, and Fabrication Management:
    Develop and manage vendors and subcontractor resources; maintain purchasing procedures; ensure timely delivery of equipment and materials; oversee fabrication needs and coordinate shop output with field schedules; manage warehouse inventory and deliveries to align with work.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    Work with department heads in Asset Management, HR, IT, Estimating, and Finance to streamline operations; coordinate with Estimating and Preconstruction to understand backlog and upcoming labor needs; participate in leadership meetings to drive strategy and process improvements.
  • Planning, Scheduling, and Reporting:
    Prioritize tasks and manage project schedules; provide weekly branch performance updates on labor, revenue, margins, safety, and outstanding issues; standardize operational processes including job start-up, change management, closeout, and warranty procedures; drive continuous improvement in productivity and field execution.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the commercial HVAC/R, plumbing, or mechanical industry with significant exposure to HVAC and plumbing/pipe fitting operations.
