Operations Supervisor - Automated Pharmacy Refill Center Role Summary
The Operations Supervisor is responsible for leading day-to-day operations within a high-volume, highly automated Central Fill pharmacy environment. This role drives operational performance, ensures regulatory compliance, and leads a team focused on safety, quality, and service excellence for both McKesson and key customer partners.
Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership & Execution- Lead daily production operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant workflow execution across all shifts
- Manage real-time operations including staffing assignments, workload balancing, system flow, and production thresholds
- Proactively monitor performance trends (throughput, utilization, service levels) and take action to address risks and gaps
- Optimize shift schedules and labor planning to align with business needs and customer commitments
- Analyze operational data to identify inefficiencies, performance trends, and improvement opportunities
- Drive productivity, efficiency, and service-level performance against established KPIs
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for operational issues and implement corrective and preventive actions
- Partner cross-functionally to improve system performance, workflow design, and operational stability
- Provide clear direction, coaching, and accountability to frontline team members
- Interview, hire, develop, and retain a high-performing, engaged workforce
- Establish performance expectations and ensure timely feedback, recognition, and corrective action where needed
- Build and maintain a structured training program, ensuring compliance with all SOPs, regulatory, and customer requirements
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Ensure adherence to pharmacy regulations, company policies, and quality standards
- Lead incident investigations, ensuring thorough documentation, root cause identification, and customer-sensitive resolution
- Partner with facility leadership, system administrators, maintenance, and external vendors to resolve issues and support system performance
- Coordinate pharmacy installations, system upgrades, and troubleshooting activities
- Collaborate with distribution centers and transportation teams to ensure contractual service levels are met
- Serve as a key point of contact in supporting customer experience and service reliability
- Champion a safety-first culture, ensuring compliance with all safety programs and policies
- Identify risks and drive corrective actions to maintain a safe working environment
- Typically requires 3+ years of subject matter experience including exhibiting leadership capabilities
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams in a fast-paced operational environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make real-time decisions based on data
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey insights and expectations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general system/automation tools
- Flexible schedule required, including second shift, weekends, and rotational coverage based on business needs
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Experience in pharmacy operations, automation, supply chain, logistics, manufacturing, or distribution environments
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance standards (pharmacy, FDA, ISO, or similar)
- Experience leading process improvement initiatives and driving operational excellence
- Strong coaching, interviewing, and performance management capabilities
Physical Requirements
- High-volume, production-driven environment with a focus on safety and precision
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods (8+ hours per shift)
- Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights and weekends
- Ability to operate effectively in a regulated pharmacy environment (including applicable PPE requirements)

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.
Our Base Pay Range for this position
$54,500 - $90,900
