Director, Environmental Compliance
Plans, organizes, and directs system-wide environmental compliance programs, strategy, and activities at Orlando Health. Essential functions include developing and aligning environmental compliance strategies with organizational goals, leading system-wide environmental compliance programs, activities, and training to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and accreditation standards, building and maintaining relationships with system, regional, and site leadership, collaborating with leadership to develop and support improvement strategies related to environmental compliance, and partnering with Corporate Safety, Facilities, Infection Prevention, Emergency Management, Regulatory Affairs, and other stakeholders to evaluate compliance, support performance improvement, and meet key metrics.
The role also involves leading preparation for and response to regulatory inspections, findings, complaints, and compliance issues, serving as liaison with regulatory agencies including FDEP, EPA, and The Joint Commission, overseeing required regulatory reporting, presenting to executive, regional, and site leadership, leading cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement, staying current on regulatory changes, trends, and best practices, providing consultative support using data and analytics to improve decision-making, supporting development and implementation of safety programs, policies, and procedures, assisting with integration of environmental compliance programs in new or acquired facilities, supporting budgeting, expense management, and operational standards, serving as Safety Officer in Command Center during incident activation, participating as subject matter expert on Environment of Care committees, managing daily operations, staffing, workflow, and team performance, investigating environmental issues and implementing corrective actions, and maintaining compliance with all organizational policies and attendance standards.
Other duties include managing HR functions including hiring, evaluating, developing, and retaining staff, and performing other duties as assigned.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Science/Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Biology, Chemistry, or related field required. Training:
Must complete 40
CFR 262.17 training within 6 months of hire and annually thereafter.
Experience:
10 years of progressive experience in environmental compliance or related field, 5 years of management experience.
