Position: DIRECTOR - TRANSPORTATION SERVICES

Salary Schedule

To provide safe, efficient, and effective transportation services for the district’s students, and oversight of the district’s operational vehicles.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Logistics, or related field from an accredited institution, or any equivalent combination of related education, training and/or experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential job functions.
  • Five (5) years of leadership experience in transportation-related area; public school environment with progressive experience in governmental accounting, finance, or budgeting, which includes expenditures and financial responsibility.
  • Two (2) years of experience managing, mentoring and leading teams of managers and employees to meet the goals and objectives of the department with a high level of success.
  • Must have the ability to research and resolve problems using data from a variety of resources and tools. Proven success in a self-directed work environment.
  • Experience in managing an organization with multiple garage operations for 1000+ preferred.

The incumbent is considered to be “essential personnel” during an emergency and can be subject to being held over or called back to a district location at all times.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of transportation logistics, safety fleet management, GPS, digital surveillance, and dispatch. Knowledge of organization and management theory and practice. Knowledge of understanding of human resources management. Knowledge of organizational development, customer service and transportation related technology.

Experience in vehicle routing analysis, simulation, budget allocation, operational and ESE policy interpretation, and compliance issues. Capacity to analyze and synthesize technical data for use in decision making. Capability to plan and organize effectively and present information in a concise, understandable manner to targeted audiences toward the achievement of district goals.

Ability to facilitate group processes in consensus building, conflict resolution, planning and decision making. Knowledge of and ability to read, interpret and enforce federal, state and local laws and policies governing the transportation of students.

SUPERVISES

Senior Administrators for Transportation Operations and Area Transportation Managers.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
