Composite Fabricator: Carbon Fiber, Coatings & Molding

Description

Fabricator for Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control (MFC) team. Responsibilities include applying finish protective coatings, fabricating composite structures, and operating processing equipment to produce high‑quality products.

Fabricate composite structures, apply protective coatings, and operate processing equipment under quality and production standards. Work with carbon fiber, plastics, metals, and equipment such as spray guns, brushes, sandblasters, and injection molding machines.

• Apply finish protective coatings, both air dry and baked, using spray guns and brushes.
• Operate sandblaster or tumble blast equipment to remove scale, flux, corrosion, and dirt.
• Fabricate composite structures using carbon fiber material.
• Set up, plan, and prove the sequence of operations on injection molding machines and related controls.
• Monitor and perform required adjustments to ensure acceptable hardware is produced.
• Mix paints, lacquers, enamels and thin to consistency specified by company or customer.
• Operate spray painting equipment and perform touch‑up and rework with spray gun and brushes.

This position is located in Orlando, FL.

• U.S. citizen eligible to obtain a Secret security clearance.
• Ability to work 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 3/12 weekend shifts per UAW agreement.
• Experience in carbon fiber pre‑preg layup and torque tools.
• Ability to operate Powered Industrial Vehicles/Trucks (PIT/V) and wear a respirator.
• Ability to operate an autoclave and work in confined spaces and clean rooms.
• Proficiency operating sandblaster and tumble blast equipment.
• Experience fabricating composite structures and applying finish protective coatings, spray guns, brushes, spray painting equipment, optical bonding fabrication, injection molding machines, ablative processing equipment, tape‑wrapper, bonding, and paint mixing.
• Previous fiberglass application with gel coat experience.

• Technical school training in auto painting, precision masking/cutting operations, or carbon fabrication.
• Experience with laser projection systems.
• Experience with cutting tables or CNC machines and rotary cutting lasers.
• Experience as a composite assembler.
• Strong math and geometry skills.
• Previous fiberglass application with gel coat experience.

Secret clearance required. Candidate must be a U.S. citizen.

Lockheed Martin supports alternate work schedules. Standard 40‑hour five‑day week, condensed schedules, and multiple shifts per UAW collective bargaining agreement are possible.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week.
