Job Description
Machinist job at Nesco Resource. Orlando, FL. The technician‑level position as a machinist in the Mechanical Engineering Machine Shop operates a wide range of machine tools in precision fabrication from aerospace‑grade metals of prototype/development parts and assemblies, in support of internal customers for research and development projects and contracted programs.
The manually or numerically controlled equipment used will require competency in lathe, mill, press, shear, band saw, and grinder operations. Requested tasks are verified and evaluated with the Manager and test requester and scheduled in an environment where competing and conflicting needs must be resolved. Job status is reported and reviewed as required with the manager. The selected candidate will report directly to the Supervisor of the Mechanical Engineering Machine Shop (MEMS) as part of the Structural & Environmental Lab inside the Technology Labs and Services Organization within the Engineering and Technology Department for LM Missiles and Fire Control.
RequiredExperience
- Minimum 4 years technical fabrication experience in a prototype/development environment with experience in metal fabrication, mechanical assembly, and composites fabrication while working in a teaming environment.
- At least 1 year of experience in fabrication of basic steel and aluminum alloys using knee mill, band saw, manual lathe, and basic hand‑powered metal cutting.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, overtime, evenings, weekends, and to work onsite daily.
- Capability to deconflict scheduling conflicts with customers and to multi‑task and prioritize projects as needed.
- Proficiency in computing within a Windows‑based MS Office‑suite for communication, scheduling, data processing, and basic data transfer.
- High School diploma or equivalent experience/combined education, with additional specialized technical training equivalent to a technical associate degree and/or demonstrated ability to perform assigned technical tasks and 4 years or more of experience.
- 1–2 years of experience with Computer Measuring Machining (CMM).
- 2–4 years of experience with Metal Cutting/Machining – Ferrous/Non‑Ferrous.
- Knowledge of CNC machines and software, CATIA, Creo, Pro E, and G‑code programming.
- Familiarity with GD&T and Mil‑Spec Standards.
- Advanced working knowledge of various metals, layout, cutting, bending, and forming.
- Knowledge from concept design into product development.
- Ability to communicate development guidance and tasking of working projects to individuals.
