JOB SUMMARY:

Fabricate or repair parts using a variety of materials where setups are non-routine and tolerances of +/- .001 or less are difficult to maintain. Operate and set up a variety of machines and toll equipment and work closely with Quality Control and Engineering personnel to ensure quality and product specifications are adhered to. Preform general maintenance on machine tools and equipment, design and program equipment using CAD/CAM software.

MAJOR

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manufacture a variety of detailed machine components on manual or CNC machines according to blueprint specifications. Preform most setups and operations using all related machine shop tools and equipment. Some machine types include Mill, Lathe, Turning Center, Drill Press. Internal/External Grinder, Surface Grinder and hand operations.
  • Repair a variety of detailed machine components on manual or CNC machines according to blueprint specifications, Technical Bulletins, and Temporary Deviation documents.
  • Using supplied drawings or direction, produce 3D computer aided designs models of requested components and develop machine code for various equipment via computer aided manufacturing.
  • Ensure work products conform to Quality Control and Engineering specifications by performing complex measurements using a variety of measurement tools.
  • Ensure job compliance with safety directives and maintain good housekeeping of work area. Provide articles for QC inspection, self-inspect finished parts, and complete quality control documents.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
  • Associate of Science degree (AS)
  • Or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred
EXPERIENCE:
  • 5+ years of machine shop experience on multiple machines required
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License required to operate company vehicles.
  • Journeyman Certification preferred but not required.

    SKILLS:

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • MATHEMATICAL

    SKILLS:

    Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Working knowledge of computer aided design programs and computer aided manufacturing programs.
  • REASONING ABILITY:
    Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    Have basic knowledge of hand tools. Read and understand drawings and manuals. Have mechanical knowledge to clean and assemble items such as gear box, wheel assemblies, etc. Understand basic hardware such as bolt grades (grade 2, 5,
    8). Be able to prep and install gaskets. Understand torque wrench readings, inch/ft. lbs. Computer savvy with basic understanding of computer programming and CAD/CAM.
