Motor Technician

Responsibilities

• Rewind of AC & DC electric motors
• AC Motors – Must be able to perform the following
  • Remove connection
  • Burn out
  • Take data
  • Strip
  • Clean core
  • Operate core loss tester
  • Baker tester
  • Insulate core
  • Make coils
  • Install coils
  • Reconnect connection
  • Dip & bake
  • Rewind stators low & medium voltage
  • Mush wound & form coil stators
• DC Motors – Must be able to perform the following
  • Take data
  • Burn out
  • Insulate armature
  • Insulate fields
  • Rewind fields, inner poles and armature along with testing commutator
• Taking motor data
• Knowledge of motor test equipment

• Strong communication skills required
• Basic mechanical knowledge
• Ability to operate shop equipment safely
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment with minimal supervision
• Ability to read hydraulic schematics
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to work well with others
• Strong knowledge of repair & rewind of AC & DC electric motors

• High School diploma or GED required, Technical / Vocational training preferred
• A minimum of 5 years on AC & DC Motors

• Push/pull up to 50 pounds
• Lift/carry up to 50 pounds
• Lift bulky objects
• Working conditions may be indoor and/or outdoor. Noise level may be loud at times
• Standing for long periods
• Ability to work overtime and weekends

• Valid Driver's License
• Clean driving record
