You will work in a lab and production environment, following detailed batch procedures to mix, test, and package gel coat products while maintaining quality, safety, and production efficiency. The position offers hands-on experience in chemical manufacturing, exposure to quality systems and process improvements, and strong long-term career growth potential within a stable, global manufacturing organization.

Responsibilities
  • Review the big batch schedule at the start of the shift to determine which products to mix.

  • Obtain the appropriate batch slip from the production office and verify that it matches the scheduled product.

  • Review raw materials listed on the batch ticket and confirm all required materials are available to complete the batch.

  • Record all required information on the batch ticket accurately and legibly.

  • Mix batches according to established mixing procedures and instructions on the batch ticket.

  • Take samples from the mix tank at appropriate stages for testing.

  • Prepare spray-outs (spray ups) for color matching and quality checks.

  • Deliver samples, spray-ups, and batch tickets to the lab for testing and approval.

  • Work on additional batches while previous batches are being tested to maintain production flow.

  • Once the batch is approved, pack out the product into containers as specified on the ticket (e.g., drums, pails).

  • Pull and retain a sample halfway through the batch and ensure it is properly identified and documented.

  • Record the weight of each container and ensure all pack-out information is accurately documented on the batch ticket.

  • After packing the first drum, bring a pint retain (half full) from the pack-out arm to the lab for a cleanliness check.

  • Ensure all containers are properly labeled, sealed, and stored according to company procedures.

  • Deliver completed batch tickets to the production office and retain samples to the lab as required.

  • Operate production equipment such as mixers, blenders, and related batch processing equipment safely and efficiently.

  • Support general production activities including packaging, sanitization, and adherence to good manufacturing practices (GMP).

  • Follow all safety, quality, and housekeeping standards in the production and lab areas.

  • Work cooperatively with lab, production, and quality teams to support continuous process improvement and reliable production output.

Essential Skills
  • Experience in manufacturing production, preferably in chemical, batch, or blending environments.

  • Hands-on experience with batch mixing, batch processing, and batch ticket or batch record handling.

  • Ability to follow detailed batch sheets, mixing procedures, and production instructions.

  • Comfort working with mixing, blending, and packaging equipment in a production setting.

  • Ability to perform simple math to measure, weigh, and record materials and finished products.

  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.

  • Reliable transportation to consistently arrive on time for scheduled shifts.

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time during production shifts.

  • Comfort working in a non-climate-controlled production facility.

  • Ability to pass a physical exam as required for the role.

  • Willingness and ability to work both 1st and 2nd shifts as needed.

  • Willingness to work overtime and occasional Saturday shifts.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy when recording weights, batch information, and labeling containers.

  • Commitment to safe work practices and adherence to good manufacturing practices (GMP).
