We are currently looking for a CNC Optical Generator Operator to join our team onsite in our Orlando, FL office. We offer a 9/80 work schedule and foster a professional, high-energy culture where employees are empowered to succeed.
- Program CNC controllers by entering toolpaths, codes, and parameters for speed, feed rate, and cutting depth.
- Set up, calibrate, and operate CNC optical generators to grind lens curves according to engineering drawings and design specifications.
- Inspect completed lenses using precision measuring instruments such as interferometers, lens meters, and spherometers to verify conformance to optical tolerances.
- Interpret blueprints, optical schematics, and work instructions to ensure accurate production.
- Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and basic upkeep of CNC machinery to maintain performance and precision.
- Troubleshoot machine errors, tooling issues, and process deviations during production.
- Maintain accurate production and quality documentation, including logs and inspection records, for each shift.
- Follow all Light Path safety policies, quality procedures, and manufacturing standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Technical Proficiency: CNC optical generators, grinding and polishing operations, optical shop machinery.
- Software & Tools: CAD and CAM systems, optical schematics, interferometry equipment, precision measurement tools.
- Troubleshooting:
Strong mechanical and analytical skills for resolving machine and tooling issues. - Quality Focused:
Detail oriented with demonstrated expertise in tolerance verification and inspection.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience operating CNC machinery in a manufacturing or optical environment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, optical schematics, and technical documentation.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work to tight tolerances.
- Mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills.
- Experience in optical manufacturing or precision grinding environments.
- Hands on experience with Zygo interferometry.
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM software used for CNC programming.
- Experience using precision measurement tools including micrometers and gauges.
