A Quick Summary About

The Role

The Orlando Magic Youth Foundation (OMYF) Graduate Associate will assist in the OMYF’s efforts to obtain financial and other support to sustain its community work, through solicitation of donations (monetary and in‑kind) from individuals, foundations, corporations, and staff.

What The Graduate Associate Will Be Responsible For
  • Manage the 50/50 Program at every home game. Set up each 50/50 Event via software, schedule shifts, set up arena kiosks, set up 50/50 devices, provide winner documents and submit winner information to finance for payment. Update reports and maintain all expenses. Assist with marketing of the program.
  • Assist with all aspects of the OMYF Open Golf Tournament and Orlando Wine Festival & Auction with mailings, soliciting donation/raffle/silent auction items, receiving, assessing value, tracking donations, writing auction descriptions, taking photos of items, guest registration, auction volunteer coordination, auction set‑up, auction check‑out, donor correspondence and thank you letters, etc.
  • Assist with OMYF donor database, which includes event, auction, online, private, and employee giving campaign donations (monetary and in‑kind donations). Database includes donor contact information, item(s) donated, etc.
  • Manage online and in‑game auctions by securing creative items to be autographed and placed on the online auction site at some home games, coordinate league affidavits and certificates of authenticity. Monitor the bidding process and assist donors with the payment/check‑out process, distribution and pick up of items and thank you letters to the supporters. Generate weekly and monthly revenue reports.
  • Assist in OMYF Grant Cycle, including but not limited to processing grants, maintaining records of applications received, assisting with board meetings, site visits, follow‑up evaluation, grant reception, ordering awards, scheduling game night grant presentations, correspondence with grant recipients, obtaining and reviewing mid‑year and end of year grant reports, and researching new organizations who qualify.
  • Assist with autograph session and donation requests, which include tracking, coordinating delivery or pick‑up of items, managing autographed inventory and reporting items donated.
  • Provide support for the Employee Giving Campaign.
  • Assist with developing content for the website and social media.
  • Maintain knowledge of NBA and team foundation events and generate ideas on how to improve existing programs.
  • Maintain knowledge of current trends in the sports and entertainment industries to aid in the procurement of auction items.
  • Research national sports teams (NBA, NFL, NHL, etc.) fundraising activities to enhance those of the OMYF.
  • Assist with in‑game presentation of grant recipients and other on‑court presentations.
  • All other duties as assigned.
What The Graduate Associate Needs To Have
  • Post Grad (recent college graduates within 24 months of graduation) or graduate‑level college students required.
  • Degree in marketing, non‑profit, and/or sports management preferred.
  • 1‑2 years of nonprofit, marketing or sports management experience preferred.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office products and other related computer skills required.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on business writing skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects and support multiple positions.
  • Ability to work independently without supervision, be self‑directed and demonstrate initiative.
