Coordinator, Religious Education, Faith Formation Coordinator
The Faith Formation Coordinator (Religious Education) is responsible for coordinating and administering parish religious education programs, including sacramental preparation for children (e.g., First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion). This role supports catechists and volunteers, ensures effective program delivery, and maintains program operations in alignment with diocesan standards. In parishes without a Parish Catechetical Leader, the Coordinator works directly with the Pastor to support the parish's faith formation efforts.
The coordinator is not authorized to teach catechist certification courses in theology.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Coordinating and administering parish religious education programs, including sacramental preparation.
- Recruiting, training, and supporting catechists and volunteers, ensuring compliance with diocesan certification and Safe Environment requirements.
- Implementing curriculum, selecting materials approved by the Diocese, and reporting any supplemental catechetical resources and material needs.
- Coordinating class schedules, sacramental preparation timelines, and related program activities.
- Maintaining accurate program, sacramental records, faith formation registration, and other pertinent data or information.
- Assisting in the preparation and monitoring of the program budget.
- Evaluating program effectiveness and providing recommendations to the Pastor or Parish Catechetical Leader.
- Utilizing the parish bulletin, weekly update, website, social media and other media to communicate and market catechetical programming, best practices, and milestones.
- Ensuring compliance with all diocesan policies related to faith formation programs.
- Collaborating with parish staff to support overall formation efforts.
- Providing faith formation support to the parish school and Morning Star.
- Attending and participating in staff meetings.
- Attending meetings/events convened by the diocese as related to catechetical ministry or job-responsibilities.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Catholic Faith:
Practice of the Catholic faith is required. Church employees must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Church. Their public behavior must not violate the faith, morals or laws of the Church or the policies of the diocese.
Education and/or
Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Theology, Catechetics, Religious Studies, Pastoral Ministry, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in parish ministry or related field. Must have or be in the process of obtaining diocesan catechetical certification. Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to travel as required. Must pass diocesan Safe Environment Requirements and background screening.
Other Skills & Abilities:
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Ability to build effective relationships with catechists, families, and parish staff. Ability to read, analyze, and respond to written communication. Ability to present information clearly and effectively. Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and cultures. Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts in budget support. Computer literacy required; bilingual ability (English/Spanish or another language) is a plus.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze information. Ability to work a full-time schedule, including evenings and weekends, as necessary to fulfill the requirements of the role.
Working Environment:
Work is performed primarily in an office setting. This position may require a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, to support parish programing.
Physical Requirements:
Tasks require the ability to perform light physical work, which may include lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling objects and materials up to 15 pounds. Work may involve extended periods at a computer or workstation.
