AHMG Cardiovascular Surgery PA-C or APRN-RNFA at AdventHealth Orlando

Overview

Under the direction and supervision of the surgeon, the Cardiovascular Surgery PA-C or APRN-RNFA will perform cardiovascular surgical preparation procedures, per-operative and post-operative procedures, and assist in performing cardiovascular surgical procedures. The PA provides pre‑operative education, answers family questions regarding surgery, recovery, and risk factor modification.

• Obtain and perform history and physical examinations.
• Record and interpret pertinent data (labs, diagnostic studies, discharge summaries, progress notes, etc.) including writing orders and discharges.
• First assisting in cardiovascular surgery, vein and radial artery harvesting; first assisting with CABG, valve, aortic and thoracic surgery.
• Perform general peri-surgical procedures in the hospital and clinic.
• Admit patients, attend rounds, complete discharge summaries with medication reconciliation and appropriate follow‑up.
• Manage patients pre‑ and post‑implantation for Ventricular Assist Devices and Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation.
• Manage patients undergoing Trans‑Catheter Valve Procedures.

• Monday through Friday.
• Weeknight on‑call responsibilities with rotating weekend coverage.
• Campuses covered:
  Advent Health Orlando & Advent Health Celebration.

• Master's degree in Physician Assistant studies or APRN.
• Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH) experience.
• Practicing experience as a cardiothoracic/cardiovascular surgery PA or APRN‑RNFA.

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff, and patients.
• Strong communication skills.
• Strong medical decision‑making skills.

• Current, valid Florida PA‑C or APRN license or ability to obtain.
• RNFA required for APRN.
• Accreditation by NCCPA or other nationally recognized certification organizations.
• BLS and ACLS.
