Position Summary The Chemotherapy Infusion Registered Nurse will be trained/verified in the administration of chemotherapeutic/biotherapy agents. The RN will provide leadership which facilitates the delivery of professional nursing care for the comfort and wellbeing of our patients. The RN will be responsible for participating in the daily clinical operations of the infusion suites by utilizing the nursing process to provide, delegate, supervise, and document care and teaching of patients and their families.

Work schedule:

either Monday - Friday, 4/10th shifts or 5/8th shifts. Responsibilities Essential Functions
• Coordinates out-patient care and acts as a liaison between the provider, family, and office team.
• Demonstrates excellent ability to perform patient assessments and provides symptom management as well as patient and family education.
• Sets up and administers chemotherapy, fluids, and other medications via venous access consistently following the "five rights."
• Practices safe administration of chemotherapy/biotherapy, infusions, injections, and transfusions.
• Chemotherapy dose checks and monitors lab values for administration.
• Manages and can performs phlebotomy blood draws.
• Monitors side effects to chemotherapy and other medications and recognizes potential drug interactions.
• Accesses central catheters (PORTS/PICC).
• Acts as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide continuity of care throughout various stages of treatment and follow-up including, but not exclusive to providers, social work, dietician, integrative medicine, pharmacy, navigators, laboratory, radiation therapy, genetics, and clinical research.
• Educates patients regarding chemotherapy, labs, procedures, symptoms, medications, and other information as needed.
• Reviews incoming lab, imaging, and procedure results. Forward abnormal results to providers.
• Triages patients through use of pathways and collaboration with physicians for toxicities, symptom management, and needs for referrals within the RN scope of practice.
