Shift: . Manages assigned direct reports including recruitment, hiring, coaching, disciplinary actions, development, education, competencies, performance evaluations, and payroll functions. Demonstrates critical thinking, creativity, and resource management to achieve quality performance and positive employee relations. Fosters a culture of psychological safety where team members feel supported, valued, and empowered to speak up. Promotes evidence-based practice, ensuring quality outcomes, and fostering a culture of safety, compassion, and continuous learning.
Provides ongoing education and training to nursing staff to maintain high competency levels. Prepares the unit for audits and surveys by monitoring and maintaining unit compliance with regulatory standards, accrediting, hospital policies while coordinating staff education to maintain competencies and preparedness. Manages nursing staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage and optimal patient care. Conducts regular staff meetings to communicate updates, address concerns and provide guidance.
Assists in developing, implementing, and evaluating ongoing service programs to ensure quality nursing and patient care. Manages budgets and resources efficiently to meet financial and operational goals. Other duties as assigned.
- Ability to lead the employees within the Cardiothoracic Surgical unit in the delivery of patient care
- Ability to lead performance improvement initiatives on the Cardiothoracic Surgical Unit
- Ability to think critically in relation to the operations of the Cardiothoracic Surgical unit and delivery of complex patient care
- Ability to manage the business of healthcare delivery on the Cardiothoracic Surgical unit
- Able to assist and mentor others in relation to the complex technology utilized on the Cardiothoracic Surgical unit
- Associate s of Nursing [Required]
- Bachelor s of Nursing [Preferred]
- Master s of Nursing [Preferred]
- 1+ year experience in cardiothoracic, cardiovascular, or cardiac ICU setting or cardiovascular operating room experience [Required]
- Prior management experience [Preferred]
- Registered Nurse (RN) [Required]
- Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Cert (ACLS) [Required]
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support Cert (PALS) [Required]
