We are seeking a compassionate PRN Psychiatric & Family Nurse Practitioner to join our team!

Advanced Recovery Systems (ARS) is an integrated behavioral healthcare management company committed to transforming lives through comprehensive treatment. We offer a full continuum of care for individuals seeking recovery from drug and alcohol addiction, as well as a holistic approach to co‑occurring disorders. Our facilities are located throughout Central Florida; the Orlando Recovery Center (ORC) is a 93‑bed facility serving medical detox, primary residential treatment, intensive outpatient treatment, and aftercare services.

Job Duties
  • Provide excellent medical care in alignment with the ARS philosophy, establishing rapport, gathering data, determining readiness for treatment, and applying accepted diagnostic criteria for substance use disorders.
  • Screen for co‑occurring primary mental health issues.
  • Screen for substance use disorders, including psychoactive substance toxicity, intoxication, and withdrawal symptoms.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of medications, assess for medication complications, and prescribe medications following detoxification protocols.
  • Screen for danger to self or others using evidence‑based tools such as the Columbia Suicide Screening Rating Scale (CSSRS) and the Patient Health Questionnaire‑9 (PHQ‑9); analyze data to determine treatment recommendations.
  • Screen for nutrition deficiencies and implement interventions or refer for nutrition consultation.
  • Screen for pain and apply individualized pharmacologic and non‑pharmacologic pain management strategies, assessing risks and benefits.
  • Proficiently use the electronic health record to document psychiatric evaluation, physical examination, medical progress notes, medical discharge summaries, medication and ancillary orders, allergies, diagnosis updates, laboratory data interpretation, HIV and STD results, and other required documentation in compliance with company policies, state regulations, and Joint Commission standards.
  • Understand and document ASAM criteria and medical needs criteria in treatment planning.
  • Provide on‑call support: maintain contact and backup numbers, be responsive, and be available within one hour of the facility when on‑call.
Other Required Tasks with the Medical Director
  • Develop cost‑effective methods to deliver medically necessary therapeutic services.
  • Assist in formulating and supporting the highest standards of patient care.
  • Review all levels of care changes and provide peer reviews when required.
  • Support Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and students as needed.
  • Abide by all safety, risk, infection control, and other guidelines.
  • Record work hours in ADP as required for non‑exempt employees.
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Graduated from an accredited Master’s program with a Family Nurse Practitioner or higher degree and a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (Psych NP) designation.
  • Experience in addiction medicine or primary behavioral health preferred.
  • Familiarity with JCAHO and ASAM/ASAM criteria and other healthcare standards preferred.
  • Demonstrated application of Continuous Quality Improvement and Performance Improvement philosophy.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to relate to all levels of facility staff; self‑motivated and confident.
  • Licensed as an NP in the applicable state.
  • Must hold a DEA license to prescribe controlled medications and complete at least eight hours of educational training on buprenorphine prescribing as required by the DEA.
  • When applicable, complete state protocol agreements and licensing requirements as outlined by local nursing boards.

Schedule:

flexible, with required on‑site presence. PRN coverage of weekends (Saturday and Sunday, 8 AM–5 PM).
