Job Title: Home Health Nurse Educator
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Chief Operating Officer
Setting: Medicare-Certified, Joint Commission–Accredited Home Health Agency
Position SummaryThe Nurse Educator is responsible for the orientation, education, and ongoing competency validation of agency Nurses and Home Health Aides in a Medicare-certified, Joint Commission–accredited home health agency. This role ensures compliance with CMS Conditions of Participation and Joint Commission Home Care Accreditation standards, with a strong emphasis on continuous readiness, patient safety, and quality outcomes. The Nurse Educator plays a vital role in maintaining accreditation, supporting tracer methodology readiness, and promoting evidence-based practice in the home care setting.
Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesOrientation & Initial Education
- Educate staff on pertinent Federal and State regulations, as well as Agency Policies and Procedures.
- Train clinical staff on Medicare and Joint Commission documentation expectations, including skilled need, medical necessity, and plan of care compliance
- Provide education on OASIS accuracy, regulatory expectations, and quality reporting
- Reinforce evidence-based clinical practice and interdisciplinary coordination of care
Ongoing Education & Competency Validation
- Conduct annual and ongoing in-service education in accordance with agency policies
- Perform initial, annual, and ongoing competency assessments, including skills validation, field observation, and documentation review
- Provide remediation, coaching, and targeted re-education based on performance findings, audits, or quality indicators
- Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to field staff
Joint Commission Compliance & Continuous Readiness
- Support continuous survey readiness using Joint Commission tracer methodology
- Maintain complete, accurate, and survey-ready education, competency, and training records
- Participate in mock surveys, tracers, and readiness rounds
- Assist with standards interpretation, evidence collection, and corrective action planning
- Educate staff on “survey-ready at all times” expectations
Required
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Florida
- Minimum of 3 years of Home Health RN experience in a Medicare-certified agency
- Familiarity with OASIS-E
- Working knowledge of Joint Commission Home Care Accreditation standards
- Strong understanding of CMS Conditions of Participation (42 CFR Part 484)
- Experience with clinical education, competency validation, and survey readiness
- Excellent teaching, communication, and organizational skills
- Active Level II Fingerprint Screening

Preferred
- Prior experience as a Nurse Educator, Clinical Supervisor, or Quality/Compliance nurse
- Experience supporting Joint Commission surveys or accreditation cycles
- Familiarity with OASIS-E and Kantime
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Experience with tracer methodology and performance improvement initiatives
- Ability to travel to agency coverage area
- Ability to perform and demonstrate clinical skills
- Ability to stand, lift, and assist during hands-on training and competency evaluations
