The Clinical Nurse Educator is a 12‑month faculty position within the School of Nursing. The role involves direct supervision and clinical instruction of nursing students in health care settings. Primary responsibilities include serving as a professional role model, supervising students’ bedside care, evaluating clinical performance, and collaborating with faculty and clinical partners to design meaningful learning experiences. The position also supports students in laboratory settings by offering coaching and skill development.
Classroom teaching is not part of this role.
Teaching assignments may include day and evening classes. The position requires in‑person work at West and/or Osceola Campuses and at clinical sites in Orange and Osceola counties. Schedule may vary by semester.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Minimum of three (3) years of full‑time Registered Nurse (RN) experience providing direct patient care in a health care facility.
- Current Registered Nurse license in Florida in good standing.
- CPR certification at the Health Care Provider level.
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Nursing Education.
- Experience working with undergraduate nursing students in clinical settings and/or prior experience in precepting or clinical supervision.
- In-depth knowledge of nursing principles and the ability to model professional behaviors while supervising students in safe, ethical, and evidence‑based patient care.
- Skill in assessing clinical performance, maintaining documentation, and providing constructive feedback and academic support.
- Ability to design and coordinate meaningful clinical experiences and student assignments, including client/case selection, in collaboration with faculty and clinical sites.
- Strong interpersonal skills to liaise with students, faculty, and clinical partners, and to participate in meetings and program initiatives.
- Knowledge of nursing standards, accreditation requirements, and institutional policies, with a commitment to professional integrity and compliance.
- Strong clinical judgment and problem‑solving skills to support safe, effective patient care and student learning.
- Capability to engage in physically demanding clinical work, including prolonged activity, patient mobility assistance, and hands‑on procedures requiring visual acuity, fine motor skills, and sensory responsiveness.
This role is primarily conducted in clinical and hospital settings, with occasional duties in laboratory environments. The employee will routinely use standard medical equipment (patient monitors, infusion pumps, ECG machines) and may also use lab and office equipment (microscopes, computers, phones, instructional technologies). Exposure to blood borne pathogens, bodily fluids, and hazardous materials is typical. The environment may have moderate to high noise levels, particularly near monitoring equipment or during clinical activities.
Physical demands include frequent standing, walking, propelling patients, using equipment, reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting or carrying items up to 20–30 pounds. Cognitive demands involve discretion, judgment, memory, learning, comprehension, problem solving, and decision making. The role requires frequent communication, observation, and adaptability.
Work is based primarily in hospital or clinical settings with regular bedside engagement. A flexible schedule is required, including occasional evenings or weekends. Local travel to hospital or clinical sites may be required.
