Paraphrase the role’s purpose here if desired. The Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit is responsible for delivering advanced patient care for patients with complex and high-intensity needs, ensuring safe and effective interventions, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
• Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Florida or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
• Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification; ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC required for certain areas.
• Minimum of 1 year of RN experience is required; more than 1–2 years of ICU RN experience strongly preferred.

• Graduate nursing experience acceptable if less than 1 year (apply to Graduate Nurse or Nurse Resident openings).
• More experience in ICU RN roles is highly desirable.

• Provide critical care for patients requiring complex assessment and therapies.
• Utilize assessment data to anticipate and respond to rapidly changing conditions.
• Prioritize information to take decisive, evidence-based action.
• Monitor and adjust specialized equipment such as intracranial pressures, vascular pressures, pulmonary artery pressures, cardiac rhythms, respirators, ventilators, and oxygen pumps.
• Respond to life-saving situations based on nursing standards and protocol.
• Assess patient needs, develop or revise individualized plans of care.
• Document patient care consistently, meeting regulatory standards.
• Perform advanced nursing skills as defined by unit/department guidelines.
• Delegate tasks appropriately to healthcare team members.
• Serve as a patient and family advocate, fostering respectful relationships.
• Act as preceptor, charge nurse, unit educator, or nurse clinician when required.
• Collaborate with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams for effective care planning and management.
• Model professionalism and support hospital and nursing department goals.
• Maintain regular, punctual attendance in line with Orlando Health policies and applicable laws.
• Adhere to all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

• Contribute to the knowledge and skills of others, supporting continuous quality improvement.
• Participate in or lead unit‑level and/or organizational nursing committees.
• Engage in peer review, mentoring, and coaching regarding professional practice.
• Use supplies efficiently; maintain safe, clean, and organized work environment.
• Attend staff development in‑services, department meetings, and nursing committee meetings.
• Collaborate with leadership to identify professional development needs.
• Assume responsibility for own professional development and continuing education.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
