Position Summary
Assistant Nurse Operations Manager – Labor and Delivery (Night Shift) at Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies, Orlando, FL. Full‑time (40 hours). Responsible for overseeing the unit’s staffing, operations, and quality initiatives.
Labor and Delivery UnitLevel III Perinatal Center providing comprehensive patient‑centered obstetrical nursing care for low and high‑risk families. The unit contains 28 Labor and Delivery Rooms, allowing families to remain together during labor, birth, and the immediate postpartum period.

- Recruit, interview, select, and evaluate new team members.
- Coordinate corrective action, progressive discipline, and career advancement with HR.
- Investigate event reports and provide feedback to the unit/department.
- Oversee unit staffing schedules and ensure a proper mix of staff for each shift.
- Maintain oversight of patient flow and intervene as needed to achieve expected outcomes.
- Perform nurse leader rounds and reviews to identify variance from nursing best practice.
- Lead process/quality improvement initiatives to improve outcomes and standard work.
- Uphold customer experience; provide service recovery to patients and families as needed.
- Interface with patients and families to provide instruction, promote participation, and coordinate nursing activities.
- Participate/lead staff meetings, GEMBA board, or huddles; demonstrate ownership of unit and outcomes.
- Perform direct patient care activities as required for operational needs.
- Possesses excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork abilities.
- Respect privacy and confidentiality of staff information.
- Ensure incident reports are completed appropriately and follow up with event reports.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing required;
Master of Science in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice or BSN with graduate degree in business or health‑related field preferred. - Current active RN license in Florida or Nurse Licensure Compact.
- Current Basic Life Support certification.
- Certifications may include ACLS, PALS, and NRP depending on patient population.
- Two years of RN experience in Labor and Delivery or OB/GYN setting.
- At least two years of RN leadership experience in an acute care setting.
- Strong communication, organizational, and critical‑thinking skills.
- Passion for patient care and team development.
