Overview of Position

We invite a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Nurse to join our healthcare team at the University Behavioral Center in Orlando, Florida. The role involves close collaboration with patients experiencing psychiatric disorders, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well‑being while promoting recovery and rehabilitation. Candidates must hold an active or clear Florida nursing license. Preference is given to candidates with prior experience in a psychiatric facility or rehabilitation program.

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' mental health status and needs.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses to treatment.
• Provide therapeutic interventions, including crisis intervention and supportive counseling.
• Perform physical examinations and vital signs monitoring as required.
• Engage in patient education regarding mental health conditions and treatment options.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic patient care.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills in psychiatric nursing.

• Current license to practice nursing in Florida (or eligible to receive or renew).
• Current CPR or BLS certification.
• Preferred: one year of experience working in a psychiatric inpatient setting with patients aged 5–65 years+.

12‑hour shifts; day or night shift available; rotating weekends.

• Proficiency in medical terminology for medical documentation.
• Experience with behavioral health patients.
• Knowledge of patient care principles for adult psychiatric patients.
• Familiarity with older adult care practices is advantageous.
• Experience working with children in a psychiatric setting.
• Competence in taking vital signs accurately.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Strong critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills.
