Position: RN Registered Nurse Medical PCU FT Days Orlando

Location & Schedule

Location:

601 E Rollins Street, Orlando, FL 32803.

Shift: Full-Time, Nights 7:00 AM–7:00 PM with rotating weekends.

Unit Overview
  • 39 beds Palliative/Supportive Care PCU Medical.
  • Great unit to learn and grow, with opportunity to care for a diverse patient population.
  • Potential to train as a Charge Nurse or Preceptor based on performance.
  • Staffing ratio of 5 patients per nurse in a team nursing model.
  • Patients typically have heart failure, diabetes, respiratory distress, sepsis, or other complex medical needs.
  • Unit staff includes registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, respiratory therapists, and other interprofessional team members.
  • Specialized equipment and technologies: cardiac monitoring and telemetry, non-invasive ventilation, pulse oximetry, and specialized IV pumps.
  • Staff is trained in advanced care techniques such as wound care, medications, and nutritional support.
  • Collaboration with physicians, rehabilitation specialists, social workers, and other professionals for individualized care plans.
  • Goal is to improve patient outcomes, reduce complications, and prevent ICU admissions.
  • Virtual Nursing support assists with admissions, discharges, safety rounding, patient education, virtual safety companions, and post‑discharge support.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate the physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual, and lifestyle factors of patients.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and standards of care, regularly evaluating and revising these plans as necessary.
  • Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely, following physician orders and hospital protocols, and monitor for adverse reactions.
  • Educate patients and families about health conditions, treatments, medications, and self‑care strategies to promote understanding and compliance.
  • Collaborate with medical staff and ancillary departments to coordinate and optimize patient care, ensuring effective communication and teamwork.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient information, care activities, interventions, and outcomes in the medical record.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures.
  • Ability to work as a team player within a unit.
  • Effective verbal and oral communication and problem‑solving skills.
  • EKG proficiency (based on patient; see document EKG and Advanced Life Support Requirements).
  • Fluency in English (read, verbal, and written skills).
  • Basic computer skills – ability to navigate Microsoft Windows‑based programs.
  • High level of abstract reasoning to assess patients, evaluate interventions, and revise plan of care according to patient outcomes.
Education & Experience
  • Associate’s of Nursing (required).
  • Bachelor’s of Nursing (preferred).
  • 1+ years acute‑care hospital setting (preferred).
Licenses & Certifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) – required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Cert (ACLS) – required.
  • Basic Life Support – CPR Cert (BLS) – required.

Pay Range

$31.53 – $52.24 per hour.
