RN Registered Nurse Medical PCU Nights Orlando

Schedule:

Full‑time, Nights 7:00pm–7:00am with rotating weekends

PCU Medical is a 39‑bed palliative/supportive care unit focused on patients with complex conditions such as heart failure, diabetes, respiratory distress, sepsis, and other acute medical needs. The unit operates a team nursing model with a staffing ratio of 5 patients per nurse and offers specialized equipment including cardiac monitoring, telemetry, non‑invasive ventilation, pulse oximetry, and advanced IV pumps.

• Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate the physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual, and lifestyle factors of patients.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and standards of care, regularly evaluating and revising these plans as necessary.
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely, following physician orders and hospital protocols, and monitor for adverse reactions.
• Educate patients and families about health conditions, treatments, medications, and self‑care strategies to promote understanding and compliance.
• Collaborate with medical staff and ancillary departments to coordinate and optimize patient care, ensuring effective communication and teamwork.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient information, care activities, interventions, and outcomes in the medical record.

• Effective verbal and oral communication and problem‑solving skills
• Proficiency in EKG interpretation (see EKG and Advanced Life Support requirements)
• Fluency in English (read, verbal, and written)
• Basic computer skills – ability to navigate Microsoft Windows‑based programs
• High level of abstract reasoning to assess patients, evaluate interventions, and revise plans of care based on outcomes

• Associate’s of Nursing – Required
• Bachelor’s of Nursing – Preferred

• 1+ year in an acute care hospital setting – Preferred

• Registered Nurse (RN) – Required
• Basic Life Support – CPR Certification (BLS) – Required
• Acute/Critical Care Clinical Nurse Specialist (CCNS) – Preferred
