Position Summary

The Weekend Supervisor is a licensed nurse who oversees the overall clinical operations of the facility during weekend shifts. This role ensures that quality care is delivered, staff are supported, and facility operations run smoothly in the absence of weekday leadership.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervise all nursing staff and units during weekend shifts (Saturday and Sunday).
  • Provide clinical leadership, support, and guidance to staff throughout the building.
  • Make rounds to monitor resident care, staff performance, and overall operations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for families, physicians, and staff during the weekend.
  • Ensure staffing levels are adequate and reassign staff if necessary to maintain coverage.
  • Respond to emergencies and make appropriate decisions in the absence of administrative staff.
  • Monitor and ensure timely completion of medication administration, treatments, and documentation.
  • Assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers as needed.
  • Investigate incidents or complaints and report findings to the Director of Nursing or Administrator.
  • Ensure compliance with all facility policies, state, and federal regulations.
  • Communicate any urgent issues, resident condition changes, or staffing concerns to weekday leadership through written or verbal reports.
Qualifications
  • Current and valid RN or LPN license in the state of employment (RN preferred).
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in long-term care or skilled nursing.
  • Prior supervisory or charge nurse experience required.
  • Strong clinical judgment and leadership skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
