Position Title: Registered Nurse, Advanced Care – Cardiac Cath Lab (Lake Mary Hospital)
Status: Full-time (40 hours/week)
Schedule: 4 x 10 hour shifts (7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.) – Must take STEMI call.
Position SummaryProvides advanced patient care in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory/ICU environment, supporting patients with complex cardiac conditions. Responsible for monitoring, interventions, assessment, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal outcomes.
Responsibilities- Demonstrates critical knowledge, skills, and judgment to care for patients requiring high intensity interventions and continuous nursing vigilance.
- Utilizes information and assessment data to anticipate and respond confidently to rapidly changing patient conditions.
- Monitors and adjusts specialized equipment such as intracranial pressures, central venous pressures, pulmonary artery pressures, cardiac rhythms, respirators, ventilators, oxygen pumps, etc.
- Responds to life‑saving situations based on nursing standards and protocol.
- Observes, monitors, and assesses patients’ conditions; recognizes, identifies, and interprets serious situations before physician availability.
- Assesses patient needs and develops/revises individualized plans of care, evaluating progress toward outcomes.
- Provides patient and family advocacy, builds respectful relationships, and offers compassionate care across all life‑span patients.
- Serves as preceptor, charge nurse, unit educator, and/or nurse clinician; communicates and collaborates with medical staff and interdisciplinary team.
- Maintains documentation and regulatory compliance; prioritizes patient care per evidence‑based practice.
- Delegates tasks and duties to team members in accordance with patient needs and competencies.
- Maintains attendance and compliance with Orlando Health policies, ADA, FMLA, and other standards.
- Contributes to continuous quality improvement of health care practice.
- Participates or leads unit or organizational committees on nursing practice and performance improvement.
- Engages in peer review, mentoring, and coaching.
- Maintains clean, safe, organized work area and uses supplies efficiently.
- Attends staff development, departmental meetings, and committee meetings.
- Identifies professional development needs and pursues continuing education.
- Performs any other duties as assigned.
- Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
- Current State of Florida RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license.
- BLS/Healthcare Provider certification (required). ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC required for certain areas; NRP required for NICU.
- Minimum 1 year experience; must have cardiac catheter laboratory experience unless approved by AVP level or above.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a high‑intensity setting.
