Orlando Health Physician Associates-Executive Health Program
Orlando Health Physician Associates is a primary care practice within the Orlando Health system, located at 1222 South Orange Avenue, 5th floor, Orlando, FL 32806. The Associate Nurse works Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. (hours may vary depending on patient needs). The role requires an emphasis on ambu‑latory care with an expectation of adapting duties as the department grows.
Responsibilities- Demonstrate critical knowledge, skills, and judgement to care for patients requiring complex assessment, high‑intensity interventions, and continuous nursing vigilance.
- Utilize information and assessment data to anticipate and respond to rapidly changing patient conditions.
- Identify and prioritize information to take immediate, evidence‑based, patient‑focused action.
- Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients, including intracranial, central venous, pulmonary artery pressures, cardiac rhythms, respirators, ventilators, and oxygen pumps.
- Respond to life‑saving situations based on nursing standards and protocol.
- Observe, monitor, and assess patients’ condition, recognizing serious situations and calling the physician or taking pre‑planned emergency measures when a physician is not available.
- Assess patients’ needs and develop or revise individualized care plans, evaluating progress toward expected outcomes.
- Respect diversity by building respectful relationships with all team members and customers.
- Act as a patient and family advocate.
- Provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit or department.
- Serve as a preceptor, charge nurse, unit educator, or nurse clinician.
- Communicate and collaborate with medical staff and interdisciplinary team to plan and manage the unit or department.
- Serve as a role model for staff and support the hospital and nursing department’s goals and strategies.
- Apply knowledge of growth and development across the life span to interpret data and determine patient requirements based on age‑specific needs.
- Coordinate care and delegate tasks to team members on a defined patient group.
- Document patient care consistently and in compliance with required standards, including assessment, education, medication administration, treatments, and patient safety.
- Demonstrate competency in nursing skills and use of unit equipment as defined by unit/department requirements.
- Prioritize patient care in accordance with EvidenceBased Practice Standards of Care.
- Practice effective problem identification and resolution.
- Delegate tasks and duties to team members in accordance with patient needs and staff capabilities.
- Communicate patient condition or unit concerns to other healthcare team members.
- Provide a compassionate and therapeutic environment for patients and families.
- Demonstrate awareness of legal issues and patients’ rights.
- Collaborate with education and leadership teams to support new and student staff.
- Maintain punctual attendance in line with Orlando Health, ADA, FMLA, and other standards.
- Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
- For Advanced Care Registered Nurse ECMO Specialists:
- Provide daily staffing for Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenator (ECMO) services in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit.
- Work under the direction of unit leadership, intensivist services, perfusion services, and bedside staff to ensure adequate perfusion, corrective acid‑base balance, and hemodynamic stability.
- Perform technical skills with efficiency, accuracy, and safety, anticipating, troubleshooting, and managing crises and emergencies.
- Operate ECMO equipment under MD/perfusion provider direction.
- Monitor and optimize the ECMO circuit and related equipment.
- Accurately administer blood products and medications through the ECMO circuit when ordered.
- Manage inline equipment connected to the ECMO circuit.
- Perform ECLS on scheduled, unscheduled, and emergency cases, including transport and ensure continuous coverage.
- Attend mandatory quarterly simulations.
