Position: Professional Development Practitioner - Intermediate Critical Care / MSPCU

Position Summary

This Professional Development Practitioner / Clinical Educator is assigned to the Intermediate Critical Care Unit (ICC) / Multisystem PCU (MSPCU). The role functions as a learning facilitator, change agent, mentor, leader, champion for inquiry, advocate, and partner for practice transitions within the unit. It coordinates the planning, development, design, implementation, and evaluation of staff education and supports professional growth, ensuring team members are clinically competent to function independently in their roles.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct ongoing needs assessments and formulate educational plans based on data collected.
  • Develop and coordinate the orientation process for assigned areas.
  • Regularly meet with orientees, preceptors, and members of the leadership team; utilize an Education Action Plan as necessary.
  • Implement educational programs to enhance the competence and skills of nursing staff, using innovative teaching methodologies and technologies.
  • Develop evidence-based and culturally competent educational curricula in accordance with the ANPD standards to address learning needs across levels of expertise and specialties.
  • Use the ANPD Practice Model to create and evaluate department-specific education.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment and verification of team member proficiency by observing practice at the point of care.
  • Collaborate with department leadership to review orientee progress and provide feedback on skills.
  • Collaborate on initiatives that influence department-specific and organizational outcomes with site education manager or designee approval.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Learning to enhance clinical skills and professional development of team members.
  • Promote and encourage team member participation in professional organizations and organizational initiatives.
  • Provide education to maintain ongoing knowledge and compliance with organizational, regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing learning by integrating new knowledge and skills from diverse fields.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals and educators from various disciplines to promote interdisciplinary learning and integration of knowledge.
  • Embrace change with a proactive and flexible mindset; maintain strong interpersonal and communication skills with diverse stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Learning to assist with corporate-led courses as requested.
  • Serve as a preceptor for Learning Specialists and maintain visibility to support day, night, and weekend shift team members.
  • Function as a resource for the comprehensive health records (CHR) system and maintain accurate records of educational programs, assessments, and evaluations in compliance with ANPD documentation standards and other regulatory requirements.
  • Generate reports to demonstrate the impact of educational interventions on practice and support continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with student services to assist with student placement when applicable.
Qualifications Education/Training
  • Graduate from an approved nursing program with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Licensure/Certification
  • Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Florida.
  • National specialty certification in area of practice must be obtained within two (2) years of hire, unless no certification is available.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) as required by the department or unit.
Experience
  • Three (3) years of related clinical experience required.
  • Recent RN experience within critical care, ICC, or PCU is highly preferred.
