ABOUT DPH CARDIAC PROGRESSIVE CARE UNIT (CPCU)

The CPCU, a 43 bed unit, serves the adult population by offering Level II Cardiac Services. The types of patients served are as follows:
Acute Heart Failure, Acute or Uncontrolled Arrhythmias, Chest Pain, Cardiac Catheterization and Percutaneous Coronary Intervention.

Responsibilities Essential Functions

• Assess patient's needs and develop/revise an individualized plan of care based on patient needs and responses.
• Evaluate the patient's progress toward attaining expected outcomes.
• Respect diversity by building respectful relationships with all team members and customers.
• Function as a patient and family advocate.
• Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.
• Serve as a preceptor, charge nurse, unit educator, and/or nurse clinician.
• Communicate and collaborate with medical staff and interdisciplinary team to effectively plan and manage the unit/department.
• Serve as a role model for staff and support the hospital and nursing department's goals and strategies.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, assess the data reflective of the patient's status, and interpret the necessary information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs.
• Coordinate the care and delegate as appropriate to other team members on a defined group of patients.

Qualifications

• Education/Training:
  Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
• Licensure/Certification:
  Maintains current State of Florida RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license (must have passed NCLEX). Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
• Experience:
  
  1+ year RN experience
