PCU Cardiac (GT7) functions as a step down from CVICU and CICU (GT5). Our patients are very specialized in advanced heart failure therapies. Our population is unique since we work with Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVADs), Artificial hearts, and heart transplant recipients. We also work with general cardiac patients and often prep patients for bypass and valve repair. Cardiac PCU will also care for patients going for pacemakers, AICDs, and heart catheterizations.
Cardiac PCU is a unique place since we are the only PCU to work with this LVAD, artificial heart and transplant population.
