Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children provides comprehensive pediatric surgical care through a multidisciplinary team of surgeons, advanced practice providers (APPs), nurses, and specialists. The Pediatric Surgery APP plays a vital role in inpatient and outpatient management, trauma and burn care, perioperative coordination, and administrative responsibilities. This full-time position includes coverage across Arnold Palmer Hospital and Winnie Palmer Hospital.

The Pediatric Surgery APP works collaboratively with pediatric surgeons, residents, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, family-centered surgical care. Responsibilities span inpatient management, trauma and burn care, perioperative coordination, outpatient clinic support, and administrative duties.

Inpatient Management

Participate in daily rounds with surgeons and general surgery residents. Assist residents with patient care in Pediatric Critical Care, Step-Down, and Acute Care Floors. Coordinate perioperative care including social work involvement and consults. Communicate with nursing staff, other APPs, and attending physicians. Provide patient education and support. Manage wounds and perform surgical dressing changes. Oversee discharge planning and facilitate multidisciplinary rounds.

Primary responsibility for NICU patients:
Pre-rounding and rounding with surgeons;
Perioperative care, order entry, and consent management;
Documentation including consults and progress notes;
Assist with bedside procedures…
