The LPN provides and documents individualized patient care to include patient evaluation, education, medication administration, IV therapy, treatments and patient safety as directed by the RN or provider.

Join the Women's Triage Unit at Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies, where experienced OB/GYN and Labor & Delivery RNs provide specialized assessment and care for obstetrical and gynecological patients. As the front door for urgent women's health needs, hospital transfers, and obstetrical ambulance arrivals, you'll use your clinical expertise every day in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while working alongside an exceptional multidisciplinary team.

Located on the downtown Orlando Health campus, Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies, part of the Orlando Health Women’s Institute, provides specialized care that covers all facets of women’s health, from comprehensive gynecological services and minimally invasive surgeries to general obstetrics and high-risk pregnancies and births. One of the nation’s largest-volume and most experienced obstetrical centers, we welcome nearly 14,000 babies each year.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates competency in advanced practical nursing skills and use of patient care/unit equipment as defined by unit specific requisite skills.
  • Communicates appropriate information regarding the patient’s condition to the RN and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Assists RN or provider during examinations and procedures.
  • Documents patient data, and patient education according to Orlando Health and department specific guidelines.
  • Able to perform triage functions, including assessing the patient and determining next step in care, working in collaboration as directed by the department nursing team or provider(s).
  • Appropriately administer oral and injectable medications or immunizations per LPN scope and as directed by a provider.
  • Maintains a safe and caring environment for both patient and family.
  • Assumes an active role in keeping informed about changes in hospital policy, procedure, and equipment.
  • Participates in nursing PI activities as assigned.
  • Demonstrates awareness of legal issues, patient rights, and compliance with the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on the assigned unit.
