Supplier Quality Engineer
Job SummaryCoordinate and perform in‑house supplier Quality Assurance functions including, but not limited to, quality inspections, audits, evaluations, reviews, and QA process improvements in accordance with AS9100D & ISO 9001 quality standards. Review and maintain QA processes, work instructions, quality records, and source inspection instructions. Establish and maintain artifacts for established Supplier Quality Assurance processes. Review & inspect products on‑site and at suppliers' facilities.
Work with functional departments to coordinate quality assurance activities.
- Perform source inspections at supplier sites, first articles, and process verifications as outlined by AS9102 and applicable company and industry standards.
- Provide internal and supplier support for root cause and corrective/preventive actions tied to Supplier Corrective Action Requests; support supplier requests tied to program requirements, interface with customer needs and program management activities.
- Participate (as required) in supplier failure/diagnosis and Material Review Board (MRB) activities.
- Provide technical liaison support related to quality engineering matters.
- Ensure supplier contract flow‑down requirements are implemented and verified and interface with suppliers on a daily basis.
- Perform quality audits at vendor sites.
- Associate’s Degree required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Management, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent desired.
- Not less than 5 years QA Source/Final Inspection experience.
- Experience in Contract Manufacturing / CCA Inspection in accordance with IPC-610, IPC-620 & J-STD-001 – Class 3; knowledge of AS9100C processes.
- Predominance in production and inspection processes for Contract Assembly of Circuit Boards (PCB) and Electromechanical assemblies;
Harnesses & Wiring, etc. - Extensive experience in inspection or testing processes of electrical sub‑assemblies, mechanical parts, and Build‑To‑Print (BTP) items.
- Proficient in in‑process/Final Inspection and evaluation of hardware and associated contract manufacturing processes and providing daily/weekly reports; ability to read and comprehend engineering drawings, specifications, technical documentation and contracts.
- Defense industry experience is a plus.
- Internal Auditor Certification is a plus.
- Quality Certifications / ASQ Member is a plus.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, software, databases, and ERP system (Syteline preferred).
- Ability to work with others as part of a team assisting in the resolution of product and process quality issues.
- Effectively communicate with system engineers, manufacturing, procurement, contract specialists, production workers, customer users and quality representatives.
- Ability to analyze problems and apply knowledge of quality and contract requirements, manufacturing processes, inspection concepts and AQL acceptance criteria.
- Take a lead role in guiding the team.
- Above‑average written and verbal communication skills with ability to define and communicate issues clearly to various organizational levels.
- Ability to interpret various forms of assembly documentation.
- Must be focused and have high attention to detail.
- Must be authorized to work in the US and be eligible to obtain a passport and security clearance.
- Must pass Security background screening process.
- Willingness to work beyond regular work schedule to get the job done.
- Must be able to travel 50–70% of the time.
- Work environment includes production floor, subcontractor sites, customers and office.
- 50% desk work, 50% walking and standing while interfacing with manufacturing and others.
