Location: Orlando, FL
Position Overview
Under the direction of the Director of Quality & VSM, this role is responsible for managing and supporting all plant inspection functions, maintaining non-conformance data quality, and driving process improvements for HVAC units. The Quality Manager ensures all systems function in full compliance with customer specifications, design criteria, and company standards while cultivating a proactive, prevention-based quality culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Department Leadership: Manage the quality control department and supervisory staff; establish main performance goals through the Performance Ownership process and Daily Management.
- Proactive Quality Systems: Shift the organization from reactive problem-solving to proactive, prevention-based quality systems; develop, implement, and evaluate rigorous quality standards.
- Process Improvement & LEAN: Execute data mining and evaluation pertinent to Value Stream metrics; help teams engage in lean activity planning, execution, and deliverables aligned with the company scorecard to enhance quality and reduce waste.
- Oversight & Compliance: Oversee production to ensure conformity in assembly processes; support random inspections and review quality control documentation (checklists, logs, reports) for effectiveness and accuracy.
- Communication & Culture: Facilitate seamless communication across intercompany departments; periodically report quality and operations status to executive leadership and regulatory agencies; establish a culture where quality concerns are openly raised and resolved.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience, with prior experience as a manager in a production or manufacturing environment. Involved with or led teams in LEAN process improvements and implementations preferred.
- Technical
Skills:
Proficient in computer technology, systems, and Microsoft Office applications; skilled in data mining and quality metrics evaluation. - Aptitude: Demonstrated teamwork and team-building skills; ability to assess and develop individual/team capabilities, manage multiple projects simultaneously under strict deadlines, and work under minimal supervision to attain results.
- Physical & Communication: Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, and lift 25-50 lbs following safety guidelines; excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (bilingual Spanish skills are a plus).
