Job Summary
Coordinate and perform in house project Quality Assurance functions including, but not limited to quality audits, evaluations, reviews, and QA process improvements in accordance with ISO standards. Reviewing and maintaining QA processes, work instructions, quality records and source inspection instructions. Establish and maintain artifacts for established Quality Assurance processes. Review & inspect product on-site and at suppliers' facilities. Work with functional departments to coordinate quality assurance activities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
* Quality Audits:
Conduct and/or participate in internal, external and customer audits of products and processes to assure compliance to requirements in accordance with AS9100C. Formal Certification in performing quality audits (Internal Audits) is a plus.
* Corrective/Preventative Action System:
Coordinate the investigation of nonconforming product (field returns, systemic internal nonconformance's, supplier issues, etc.) to determine root cause and corrective and/or preventative action plans necessary to avoid reoccurrence. Handling and follow-up of deviations.
* Process Improvement:
Participate with Process Improvement Teams (PIT) in the continuous improvement of existing processes for CATS and suppliers.
* Manufacturing Support:
Review the manufacturing processes to establish required inspection points. Help to prepare task specific inspection instructions for in process and final inspection. Assist manufacturing and inspection personnel in the interpretation of contractual and specification requirements. In conjunction with QA Manager and Manufacturing, assure the prompt disposition of questionable and/or non-conforming material. Serve as quality assurance representative on the Material Review Board (MRB), which includes writing and tracking MRB documentation, and assuring the required actions are complete prior to final approval to minimize impact of production flow.
Request and verify Corrective Actions Requests (CAR's) and Non-Conformance Requests (NCR's) when issues are severe or systemic. Respond to customer requests for corrective action, as required. Review shipping documentation for compliance with contract and for customer sign-off.
* General day to day collaboration with Customer/Supplier representatives on company quality issues.
* Collects and analyzes data, and arrange data in reports for reporting to Management, compliance with ISO standards, and reporting to customer.
* Contributes to continual improvement in the work place from Quality perspective and in compliance with ISO standards.
* Supports quality audits, and document control. Perform internal AS9100 audits.
* Tracks procedures, change control, revisions, dates, signatures etc, within document control.
* May be required to support other activities to whatever extent their skills and knowledge may allow at managers discretion.
* Other duties:
Attend program status reviews and respond to Quality issues. Prepare various company quality performance status reports both overall and project specific. Assist in the development and reporting of metrics on scrap, rework, supplier performance, FRACAS etc. to highlight opportunities for improvement.
Education/and or Experience
* Bachelor's Degree in industrial management, Mechanical Engineer or equivalent
* No less than 5 year's QA Source /Final Inspection
* Experience in Contract Manufacturing CCA Inspection, in accordance with IPC-610, IPC-620 & J-STD-001 - Class 3 & knowledge of AS9100C processes required.
* Predominance in production and inspection processes in the following fields:
Contract Assembly of Circuit Boards (PCB) and Electromechanical assemblies;
Harnesses & Wiring; etc.
* Extensive experience in inspection or testing processes of electrical sub-assemblies, Mechanical parts and Build-To-Print (BTP) items.
* Proficient in the in-process /Final Inspection and evaluation of hardware and associated contract manufacturing processes and providing daily /weekly reports. Read and comprehend engineering drawings, specifications, technical documentation and contracts.
* Defense industry experience is a plus.
* Internal Auditor Certification is a plus.
