Laboratory Generalist 1

Work Shift:

Start time 12am-8:30am Monday - Friday with alternating Saturdays. Target Pay: $17.84 per hour.

The Laboratory Generalist1 receives and prepares samples for laboratory analysis, sets up instruments, runs and reads tests, interprets results, and releases them.

• Receive and prepare samples for laboratory analysis or send out tests
• Perform startup and required maintenance on analyzers
• Perform all required quality control per Quality Assurance guidelines
• Train in all areas according to Standard Operating Practices
• Enter and release results
• Participate in improving lab efficiency, quality, and cooperation
• Participate in all departmental training programs
• Reconcile pending list
• Perform other duties as assigned

High school diploma or equivalent; 2‑ or 4‑year degree in a science‑related field preferred. Prior lab experience preferred.

• Laboratory skills and experience
• General science background
• Attention to detail and ability to work independently
• Organized with the ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment
• Ability to communicate information so others will understand
• Strong typing ability and personal computer skills, including Microsoft Office

• Stationary position, must remain in a stationary position for up to 2 hours
• Constantly operate a computer and lab equipment accurately and efficiently
• Occasionally required to bend, kneel, stoop, or crouch
• May be required to lift, move, and carry up to 50 lbs
• Heavy microscopic work, observing details at close range
• Proficiency in English language required for team meetings, data entry, and understanding written directions
• Laboratory environments with potential biohazards mitigated by mandatory PPE
• Potential for exposure to zoonotic agents or hazardous chemicals as defined by Hazard Communication Standards
