Part Time Retail Associate

About the Position

With over 430 retail stores worldwide, associates are essential to our business. They ensure product availability on the sales floor, create eye‑catching visual displays, address customer inquiries, and run an efficient checkout process. Associates create memorable customer experiences while supporting Columbia Sportswear Company’s mission of “Connecting Active People with Their Passions.” As a Retail Associate, you serve as a brand ambassador and ensure exceptional in‑store experiences through positive customer interaction, problem‑solving, and sales skills.

• Provide exceptional customer service by responding to consumer questions or issues regarding product features, benefits, and availability.
• Engage customers to understand their needs and preferences; demonstrate and explain merchandise, and make suitable product suggestions.
• Maintain store standards for visual merchandising, cleanliness, and safety; retrieve and restock merchandise from the sales floor or stock room.
• Perform all cash register transactions—sales, returns, exchanges, and loyalty program enrollment—efficiently and accurately.
• Contribute to store profitability by accurately receiving, handling, replenishing, and processing incoming and outgoing product flow.

• No specific education required (High School Diploma or GED preferred).
• Up to two (or fewer) years of experience in a retail or related position.
• Ability to operate inventory and point‑of‑sale (POS) systems and other retail software tools.
• Minimum age 16 years.

Frequent movement in an active environment, including lifting items up to 40lb. May require use of specialized equipment, exposure to dust and noise, and occasional work in a location with changing conditions. Requires clear communication, flexibility to work seasonal retail schedules, and adherence to all local, state, and federal laws governing employment.
