Sales Representative, Outside Sales
Overview
Benjamin Moore is seeking a Sales Associate to join our team. This role provides an opportunity to develop sales experience within a high-energy environment and contribute to a growing Berkshire Hathaway family brand. The position is a steppingstone toward potential advancement to a Territory Sales Representative role.
What You Will DoFocus on learning and engaging with Benjamin Moore’s Field Sales team and clients during the initial onboarding period (approximately 3 months). Onboarding includes:
- Learn all aspects of the paint and coatings industry by collaborating with professionals in R&D, Marketing, Sales Operations, Manufacturing & Distribution, Color and Design, and retailer locations
- Attend internal and external product and sales training
- Participate in market-wide selling events and professional networking events
- Apply paints and coatings to various substrates and learn how to diagnose and troubleshoot product performance issues
- Become a Brand Ambassador and embody the Benjamin Moore mission and values
After onboarding, you will take on Territory Representative responsibilities as you gain knowledge and as a territory becomes available. Core areas include:
- Territory Management
- Sales and Revenue Growth
- Customer Relationship Management
- Product Knowledge and Market Awareness
Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Support Territory Representatives by calling on lower-volume customers and selling products and programs
- Cover assigned territories to support vacation absences or leave coverage as requested by the Regional Sales Director
- Manage temporary territory assignments, including scheduling, organization, and CRM/enterprise systems to drive sales, profitability, and opportunities
- Demonstrate customer-centricity with a consultative approach in a team environment
- Establish yourself as a customer go-to expert with technical knowledge, business acumen, and a thoughtful approach
- Develop new business while mentoring less experienced Territory Representatives
- Continue learning Benjamin Moore values and assist in training, campaigns, and other duties as assigned
What you bring to the table:
- Strong verbal, written, and listening communication skills
- Excellent relationship management and teamwork abilities
- Friendly, outgoing, confident, and enthusiastic
- Self-starter, capable of independent work
- Passion for servicing customers and creating solutions
- Comfortable speaking to small to medium groups in a professional setting
- A desire to develop sales skills and product knowledge
- Good computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook); willingness to learn Microsoft Dynamics CRM
- Strong work ethic and interest in building a career
- Able and willing to relocate within a designated region as identified at interview; relocate to the assigned territory after the Sales Associate program concludes (usually within 8-12 months)
- Available for up to 80% travel, including some overnight trips
- Valid driver’s license and a good driving record
- A four-year college degree is preferred, or a combination of 4 years of college and customer-facing work experience

Compensation PhilosophyBenjamin Moore provides a comprehensive total rewards package. In addition to a competitive base salary, exempt and non-exempt roles are eligible for performance-based raises and bonuses. The salary range posted reflects the amount the Company is willing to pay at posting; actual offers depend on skills, qualifications, experience, location, and other factors. Pay Range
Starting from CAD $60,000/year
