Sales Engineer, Business Development, Sales Representative
As the Quotations Specialist (Construction), you will develop proposals, bids, quotations, or other documents describing organizational products and services in response to requests from prospective clients. You will collaborate with members of the Sales, Marketing, Finance, Legal, or product teams to ensure content is complete, accurate, and timely.
Responsibilities- Identify potential projects for bid and compile list of material requirements including supplies, lighting, switch gear, and other distribution apparatuses.
- Communicate with suppliers to discuss material specifications, clarify and confirm bill of materials, negotiate pricing and identify alternatives for special or custom orders.
- Supervise negotiations with both suppliers and customers.
- Provide materials including data‑com, switch gear and apparatus, and lighting, take‑offs for preparing customer quotations.
- Coordinate receipts of required information for preparation of final quotation submittal.
- Communicate with customers to resolve problems with projects during bidding process.
- Follow‑up on open and outstanding quotations with salespersons and customers to determine status.
- Communicate with account representatives, account executives, and inside sales reps to ensure quotes and resulting orders are complete.
- Post projects being bid by customers.
- Maintain catalogs and price lists.
- May provide general customer service after project awarded.
- May identify sales opportunities within current customer base.
- High School Degree or Equivalent required;
Bachelor’s Degree preferred - 2+ years of related experience is required
- 2+ years of experience interacting with customers and/or supplier representatives to obtain pricing information and cooperation
- Must be able to read and interpret specifications and blueprints
- Strong math and analytical skills
- Strong communication and organization skills
- Strong computer skills
- Broad knowledge of product lines and pricing strategies is preferred
- Previous experience putting together bid packages preferred
- Ability to travel up to 25%
