Position SummaryThe Outside Commercial Sales Representative is responsible for developing and managing relationships with commercial customers, including contractors, developers, distributors, and private sector businesses within the assigned territory. The role focuses on driving revenue growth through new business development, account expansion, and delivering tailored solutions to meet customer needs.
Key Duties and Essential Functions- Serve as the primary point of contact for commercial clients, including contractors, developers, business owners, and engineers.
- Prospect and develop new business opportunities to expand the commercial customer base.
- Manage assigned territory and customer accounts to meet or exceed established sales goals.
- Develop and execute sales strategies aligned with customer needs and revenue objectives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers to drive repeat business and long-term partnerships.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate quoting, timely order fulfillment, and overall customer satisfaction.
- Prepare and present proposals, quotes, and technical presentations for commercial customers.
- Review project submittals, technical drawings, and specifications; act as liaison between the customer and internal teams.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and industry developments to identify new opportunities.
- Attend customer meetings, sales events, and training sessions to remain current on municipal policies, market trends, and regulatory updates.
- Maintain accurate account activity, pipeline tracking, and territory reporting within CRM and ERP systems.
- Provide responsive, high-quality customer service throughout the sales cycle and project lifecycle.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- 3+ years’ experience managing multiple customers within an account-based and/or territory sales environment.
- Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Ability to identify customer needs and provide solution-based recommendations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and experience using CRM systems.
- Strong phone presence and commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
- Ability to work extended hours and occasional weekends based on customer needs and workload.
- Previous commercial or industrial sales experience preferred.
- Familiarity with ERP systems for territory tracking and reporting preferred.
- Product and market knowledge is preferred but not required.
