Accountable for serving client families by making at‑need cemetery arrangements and selling pre‑need arrangements, the Family Service Counselor provides exemplary personalized service and plays an essential role in generating revenue for the cemetery while acting as the primary contact for families.

Job Responsibilities
  • Perform lead generation by prospecting a minimum of 1–2 hours each day.
  • Obtain referrals from families served by the location.
  • Network and build community and civic relationships.
  • Explain and present services to families served and referred families.
  • Maintain and track activity levels to ensure productivity.
  • Build and maintain relationships with families.
  • Respond to client inquiries in a timely, respectful, sensitive, and professional manner.
  • Connect with families through listening, honest communication, and genuine concern.
  • Develop an understanding of each family’s unique needs and offer solutions that provide value.
  • Stay in touch with families to ensure satisfaction.
  • Prepare for all appointments and perform all procedures with professionalism and attention to detail.
  • Follow through on all customer problems and requests.
  • Build trust‑based relationships to earn the right to ask for referrals and to offer protection to families through pre‑planning education.
  • Represent a continuous link from services provided at‑need, through aftercare, to future protection services.
  • Collaborate with funeral directors, location managers, and other cemetery staff to provide seamless, high‑quality service.
  • Thoroughly review previous services and contacts with families to prepare for current needs and sales.
  • Share family concerns with the SCI team.
Minimum Requirements
  • Education:

    High school diploma or equivalent and 1–2 years of college or an equivalent of education and experience.
  • Experience:

    1–2 years of customer service or sales industry experience preferred.
  • Licenses:
    Current state/province issued driver’s license with an acceptable driving record; insurance license if required by state/province law.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Ability to pass the Company’s internal presentation certification within thirty days of hire.
    • Availability to work a number of evenings and/or weekends each month.
    • Ability to drive frequently.
    • Flexible hours, with occasional need to work up to 12 hours in a day.
    • Empathy and respect for others.
    • Basic computer and software knowledge.
    • Strong customer service skills.
Compensation

The total target compensation range for this position, including sales incentives, is $50,000–$100,000.
