Position Summary
The Counter Sales Lead plays a key role in the daily success of the branch by supporting operational excellence, driving customer satisfaction, and providing leadership to Counter Sales and Warehouse team members. This position serves as a trusted resource for customers and employees, helping to ensure efficient branch operations, inventory management, and achievement of sales and profitability goals. The Counter Sales Lead partners closely with the Branch Sales Manager to foster a positive team environment and deliver exceptional customer service.
This position is eligible for performance-based bonuses and incentive opportunities.
Key Responsibilities Branch Operations & Leadership- Partner with the Branch Sales Manager to oversee daily branch operations and ensure efficient workflow.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to Counter Sales and Warehouse Associates.
- Promote compliance with company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures.
- Assist with opening and closing responsibilities as required.
- Support the interviewing, onboarding, and training of new team members.
- Deliver outstanding customer service by identifying customer needs and providing effective solutions.
- Serve as a technical resource for customers regarding products, applications, and industry-related inquiries.
- Respond professionally and promptly to customer phone calls, emails, and other communications.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships to support branch growth and customer retention.
- Assist with inventory management, including monitoring stock levels, replenishment, and product organization.
- Ensure the branch facility is maintained in accordance with company standards, operational procedures, and environmental health and safety requirements.
- Support warehouse operations as needed to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
- Take ownership of branch sales and gross margin performance by contributing ideas and initiatives that drive profitability.
- Work closely with the Branch Sales Manager to understand and influence key components of branch financial performance.
- Collaborate with internal departments, including Credit, Pricing, Account Management, and Operations, to enhance customer satisfaction and business results.
- Occasional travel may be required for training, professional development, meetings, and other business-related activities. Advance notice will be provided whenever possible.
- 3–5 years of HVAC, wholesale distribution, construction supply, industrial distribution, or related industry experience preferred.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced customer-facing environment.
- Strong customer service mindset with a passion for helping customers succeed.
- Sales-oriented with the ability to motivate and influence team performance.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other business software applications.
- Prior forklift certification or experience preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree in Business, Marketing, Management, or a related field preferred.
- 1–3 years of successful sales, customer service, or branch operations experience required.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, either formally or informally, preferred.
