Job SummaryWe're a driven and supportive team focused on revolutionizing the sales and marketing strategies within the home improvement retail industry. Our mission is to elevate the roofing category to new heights. As a key contributor to our growth strategy, you will drive sales and profitability for key accounts, including new and existing contractors, and foster strong relationships with our large national retail partners to ensure long‑term success.
As our Outside Retail Sales Representative, you will be the heartbeat of our sales efforts, ensuring the seamless flow and sale of GAF products across national retail stores. Your mission is to educate, promote, and drive the growth of our brand.
- Selling:
Analyze performance to identify successes, areas for improvement, and strategic opportunities to help clients stay ahead of competitors. - Know when to follow client requests and when to guide them toward better decisions.
- Prospect, own, and develop leads through the sales funnel, turning potential contractor opportunities into wins using value‑selling of GAF products, tools & resources.
- Overcome objections and convert hurdles into growth opportunities, while selling the GAF value proposition.
- Educate customers on products and market trends through meetings and store visits.
- Communicate complex topics (like market conditions) in a clear and professional manner.
- Work with Retail Outside selling teams to establish trust and support as the expert in roofing when working with them or their customers on large projects.
- Build instant rapport with clients through strong communication and diplomacy.
- Influence & Train:
Hone your skills with strong negotiating tactics, leveraging value propositions to position our clients as industry leaders. Train individuals or small groups within the Big Box stores (Home Depot & Lowe’s) with an emphasis on general product knowledge, application techniques, and best practices. - Strategic Insights:
Utilize Salesforce and Tableau to compile insightful reports to strategize next steps and identify opportunities to go above and beyond. - Network & Advise:
Become a trusted advisor by continuously networking with existing customers and potential new ones. Build strong relationships with contractors and customers, becoming their go‑to advisor. - Problem‑Solving:
Thrive in an environment where your problem‑solving skills lead to favorable outcomes. - Build Relationships:
Develop meaningful relationships with a wide network, from in‑store retail management teams to contractors. Maintain close working relationships with the Retail Sales Service Manager, Pro Retail Specialist, GAF Territory Sales Managers, Big Box home improvement retail management teams, inside and outside pro associates, merchandising teams, and store associates. - Partner closely with internal stakeholders to provide the best service to our customers and contractors.
- H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- 1+ years of customer‑facing experience and proven ability to build strong relationships with various stakeholders.
