Description

The Environmental Services (ENS) Global Practice of Burns & McDonnell is currently seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist for our Orlando office to lead tasks including environmental permitting, NEPA documentation, siting & routing, threatened and endangered species habitat surveys, wetland delineations, stream assessments, and environmental compliance.

  • Perform wetland delineations with strict adherence to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers protocol and procedures
  • Complete field investigations that may include habitat evaluations for threatened and endangered species and/or evaluation of other potentially sensitive resources
  • Compose technical reports presenting results from field investigations and develop appropriate applications/agency consultations necessary for various regulatory approvals.
  • Conduct permit compliance inspections, federal/state/local permit applications, agency consultations
  • Serve as a resource for routing and siting practices and procedures
  • Work with project manager on field-oriented tasks, project permit tracking, agency consultations
  • Office related tasks would include report scientific and technical writing, QA/QC review, assistance with compliance related tasks
  • Other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, studies, planning or related degree from accredited program.
  • Minimum 8 years of related experience providing environmental services.
  • Experience in completing field investigations, wetland delineations, associated permitting, analyzing GIS data; preparing environmental assessments and permitting documents, technical writing
  • Experience with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents
  • Demonstrated knowledge of wetlands, aquatic resources, and associated flora and fauna
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Section 404, 401 and Section 10 permitting required
  • Professional Wetland Scientist certification is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability and desire to conduct technical research, expand technical knowledge basis, and remain current on new regulations and market trends
  • Ability to work within a Team framework

This job posting will remain open a minimum of 72 hours and on an ongoing basis until filled.
