Job Description
Nemours is seeking a Public Safety Officer (Full‑time) to join our Nemours Children’s Health team in Orlando, Florida. The Public Safety Officer will provide security and customer service on Nemours Children’s Hospital – Florida property, working varying shifts including weekends.
The Public Safety Officer will patrol and provide visible deterrence to prevent, detect, or mitigate security incidents such as theft, vandalism, trespassing, assault, and intrusion. The officer will respond to calls via phone, radio or duress alert, de‑escalate or resolve situations, maintain order, enforce policies, and report incidents to the Public Safety Shift Supervisor. Responsibilities also include enforcing parking and no‑smoking policies, conducting threat assessments, monitoring badge policy, assisting monthly drills and audits, preparing reports, and supporting law‑enforcement and first responders.
- Provide secure environment for associates, patients, visitors, providers, contractors, and vendors
- Work daily assigned post and observe suspicious activity
- Offer professional, quality service
- Patrol and deter security events
- Respond to calls and codes effectively
- Write clear, complete shift reports
- Assist in monthly drills and audits
- Enforce Nemours policies and procedures, including badging and visitation
- Perform other duties assigned by the shift supervisor
- High School Diploma required
- Minimum of 3–6 months security experience
- Must possess and maintain a Florida Class D Security License
