Overview
Embry‑Riddle Aeronautical University is hiring an adjunct faculty member to teach SCTY 400 – Aviation Security in person at our Orlando, FL campus.
Course DescriptionInvestigates specific facets of security in aviation, including physical and procedural controls, regulations of DHS, TSA, FAA, ICAO, and international treaties. Covers current threats, counter‑terrorism measures, new technologies, and the importance of the aviation industry—both passenger and cargo—to the global economy.
ResponsibilitiesTeach SCTY 400 in person at the Orlando, FL campus, develop and deliver course materials, assess student performance, and fulfill adjunct faculty duties as required.
Qualifications- Doctor’s or Master’s degree in the teaching discipline or a Master’s degree with a concentration in the teaching discipline (minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline).
- Professional certification related to security or aviation security (e.g., ASIS Certified Project Professional, ASIS Professional Certified Investigator, ASIS Physical Security Professional, ACFE Certified Fraud Examiner, IFCPP, Certified Institutional Protection Manager, AAAE Certified Member, AAAE Accredited Airport Executive, AAAE Airport Certified Employee in Security, AAAE/TSA Airport Security Coordinator).
- Desired professional training or experience in aviation/aerospace security, intelligence, homeland security, law enforcement or a legal environment. Experience may include positions such as intelligence officer, police officer, police chief, security officer, security director/chief, special agent, special aviation in charge, airport security coordinator or manager, or airport executive.
All adjuncts must be physically located within the United States while working for the University, including during training. New adjuncts from all U.S. states are supported except California. International work is not supported except in limited circumstances involving U.S. military bases.
