Security Field Supervisor

Location: Kissimmee, FL 34744 - Osceola Campus

Job Type: Staff (Full‑Time)

Salary Range: $44,389 - $47,938 per year

Monday – Friday: 2:00pm – 10:00pm (additional availability may be required)

Job Summary

Shift supervisor within the Security Department responsible for supervising and monitoring day‑to‑day security operations during an assigned shift.

Flexible Work Arrangement: Fully On‑site – Employee performs all job duties at a Valencia College location, with flexibility in the work schedule if appropriate.

Responsibilities
  • Receives information and special instructions from the Manager, Supervisor and/or Assistant Vice President, Safety, Security and Risk Management.
  • Regulates parking and traffic to prevent accidents and congestion.
  • Patrols college property in an effort to prevent unauthorized loitering, parking, thefts, and vandalism.
  • Coordinates activities and events with the Manager, Supervisor and/or Assistant Vice President, Safety, Security and Risk Management.
  • Deploys shift personnel and resources to meet the operational objectives.
  • Inspects personnel and activities to maintain quality service.
  • Evaluates assigned personnel.
  • Responds to emergencies of a medical, criminal, and mechanical nature.
  • Receives and records service and personnel complaints.
  • Performs investigations of incidents occurring on college property.
  • Takes written statements and depositions from witnesses/victims.
  • Participates in security duties as required.
  • Assumes the supervisors/managers responsibilities in their absence.
  • Generates staffing schedules.
  • Manages the Student Escort Service.
  • Reviews and answers student parking appeals.
  • Directs evening LEO Contractual Services.
  • Derives and measures training performance modules.
  • Responds as “on‑call” person (four hours daily, Monday – Friday; 12 hours each Saturday/Sunday).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Requirements

    Drivers License Requirement: Must possess valid Florida Driver’s License. Employee will be required to operate a college vehicle, including but not limited to on and between campuses and in the local community.

    Required Minimum Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

    Required License/Certification: State of Florida Class “D” Security Officer License or any federal, state, county, municipal, corrections, or military academy/police or law enforcement certification. Must possess a valid Driver’s License.

    Preferred Type of

    Experience:

    Security officer and supervisory experience.

    Preferred Licenses/Certification: Current certification in First Aid/CPR or to be obtained within 180 days of start date of employment.

    Knowledge,

    Skills and Abilities
    • Knowledge of crime reporting requirements under the Clery Act.
    • Knowledge of security operations and procedures and various applicable policies, regulations, laws, etc. as they affect the security of the campuses.
    • Ability to apply regulations consistently.
    • Ability to describe people and objects in accurate detail; regulate parking and traffic to prevent accidents and congestion; deploy, assign, and direct personnel.
    • Ability to respond to emergency and safety systems.
    • Ability to make effective decisions affecting security operations without supervision and to carry out those decisions in a timely manner.
    • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
    General Working Conditions

    This job operates in a professional office environment and throughout the College’s worksites and grounds. Within the professional office environment, the employee will routinely operate standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, keyboards, mouse, phones, photocopiers, printers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines. The noise level in the office work environment is usually quiet and occasionally moderate. While operating outside of the office environment, the employee may be exposed to elements including but not limited to wet/humid weather, extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and unpleasant odors.

    The role may also involve hazards or physical risks, which require comprehending and following basic safety precautions and may require Personal Protection Equipment.…
