Perimeter Security Partners is looking for a motivated Traveling Construction Specialist with strong construction experience to install and repair security bollards, active and passive vehicle barrier equipment, security fencing and personnel gates throughout the United States. The works are performed outdoors in support of governmental, military, industrial, and commercial clients. This role may also assist other crew members with the installation and repair of all types of access control point (ACP) equipment across the United States.

The Construction Specialist will perform a wide variety of construction tasks such as equipment operation; forming, placing, and finishing concrete; tying reinforcing bar for concrete foundations; layout, installation, and repair of security fencing and gates; demolition/excavation; and other tasks within their competency as directed. The Construction Specialist will work under the direction of a Superintendent or Foreman who will provide a daily work plan, deliver safety briefs, and provide on‑the‑job training to expand the successful candidate’s skills and experience.

Duties
  • The Construction Specialist must be able to safely accomplish construction trade work in outdoor conditions in accordance with a daily work plan.
  • Execute construction tasks with a variety of common hand tools, including shovels, picks, screwdrivers, wrenches, saws, drills, and pry bars.
  • Experience safely operating a variety of powered equipment, including skid‑steer, shooting boom forklift, trencher, concrete saw, and mini‑excavator, is a must.
  • Work cooperatively with other Construction Specialists to accomplish the daily work plan.
  • With training and experience, the Construction Specialist will saw cut and demolish existing concrete and asphalt paving, excavate earth, set and brace barrier/fence equipment, place and finish concrete, assemble gates/fences/barriers.
  • Maintain all safety standards, including the proper use of personal protective equipment.
  • Unload material arriving to the job site.
  • Set and remove traffic control devices, erosion control devices, and temporary fence as required.
  • Excavate, backfill, grade, and compact site to meet design criteria.
  • Conduct inspections of equipment, tools, and vehicles before use to ensure safety and proper operation through the use of established checklists.
  • Clean and maintain tools, equipment, vehicles, and materials in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and company policy.
  • Drive company truck to and from job sites.
Requirements, Skills, and Qualifications
  • Minimum three years of experience as a construction tradesperson is required.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug test to permit access to military installations and similar controlled areas.
  • Experience in operating powered equipment is preferred.
  • Experience installing a variety of security fencing and gates is preferred.
  • Experience placing and finishing reinforced concrete is preferred.
  • Bi‑lingual (Spanish) is a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds to waist level.
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and have full use of hands, fingers, and arms.
  • Must be able to work outdoors for up to 60 hours per week in a variety of weather conditions.
Additional Information
  • 85% or more travel, typically for two (2) to three (3) weeks at a time per project sites across the United States.
  • Employee will be given a company credit card for approved expenses (e.g. hotel, fuel, tools, and materials). A fixed per diem to offset meals and expenses is also provided.
  • Hands‑on and other training opportunities are available to augment skills and increase proficiency with a wide variety of physical security infrastructure equipment.
