Job SummarySenior Fire Alarm Project Technician – Integrated Fire and Security Solutions Orlando, FL. Responsible for the installation, configuration, programming, and commissioning of advanced fire alarm systems on new construction and large‑scale retrofit projects, with additional exposure to CCTV, access control, and intrusion detection systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Lead and execute project‑based installations of fire alarm systems, including device layout, wiring, programming, testing, and commissioning; assist with integrated security systems (CCTV, access control, IDS) as needed.
- Interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and submittals, and maintain accurate as‑built documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate with project managers to ensure all equipment, materials, and tools are staged and ready for each phase of installation.
- Identify and resolve field modifications, RFIs, or scope gaps to keep projects on schedule and within specification.
- Verify compliance with NFPA 72, NEC, Florida Fire Prevention Code, and AHJ requirements throughout installation and closeout.
- Conduct pre‑functional and acceptance testing, supporting AHJ inspections and final system turnover to the customer.
- Stay current with emerging fire alarm technologies, manufacturer platforms, and best practices through ongoing training and certifications.
- Maintain clear communication with project managers, general contractors, electrical contractors, AHJs, and clients to ensure smooth project execution.
- Mentor junior technicians and apprentices, providing technical guidance on complex installations and code application.
Skills & Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in the low‑voltage industry, primarily fire alarm system installation and project work.
- Experience with security systems (CCTV, access control, IDS) is a plus.
- High School Diploma or GED required; technical certifications preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of NFPA 72, NEC, and Florida Fire Prevention Code.
- Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings, riser diagrams, and submittal packages.
- Excellent time management, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment on active construction sites.
- Valid Florida Fire Alarm License (FASA/BASA) required, or ability to obtain within an agreed‑upon timeframe.
- Proficiency with fire alarm programming software and technology tools.
- Ability to meet company driving eligibility requirements, including holding a valid driver’s license and maintaining an acceptable motor vehicle record.
- BS degree or Technical School Certification in electronics, fire alarm systems, or a related field.
- NICET Level II or higher certification in Fire Alarm Systems.
- Manufacturer certifications for major fire alarm platforms (Notifier, Silent Knight, EST/Edwards, Siemens, Honeywell, Gamewell‑FCI).
- Manufacturer certifications for major security platforms.

This role may require extended periods of sitting or standing, movement around the office or job site, and operation of standard equipment. Physical activities can include reaching, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting up to 75 lbs. Field positions may involve heavy lifting, working in varying climates (including outdoor conditions), construction or low‑voltage environments, and exposure to dust, noise, or confined spaces.
Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required. Some roles may require travel.
