At Goodwill Industries of Central Florida, as a Maintenance Technician II, you are expected to perform maintenance repairs in all GICF facilities. Major duties include repairing lighting and other electrical issues, plumbing repairs, painting, carpentry, and replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, and HVAC filters.
A Day in the Life of a Maintenance Technician II- Perform maintenance repairs such as replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, and HVAC filters.
- Inspect and repair emergency exit and other lighting as required.
- Perform general carpentry projects at facilities.
- Conduct basic electrical repairs including ballast/driver replacement, fixture replacement, fans, etc.
- Perform plumbing repairs as assigned, including fixture replacement and flushometer work.
- Paint and touch up stores and the main facility.
- Complete and update computer‑based work orders promptly via tablet.
- Work in a public, customer‑facing environment safely and responsibly.
- Follow all safety procedures when repairing or replacing items as assigned; adhere to and support the Organization’s safety and security program; follow lock‑out/tag‑out procedures and utilize the correct PPE per OSHA requirements.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds independently and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Vision abilities required include close, distance, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Stooping, bending, kneeling, balancing, crawling, pushing and pulling, and climbing ladders.
- Standing and walking for long periods of time.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- High School education or equivalent is preferred.
- Entry level to 1 year’s experience.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Daily use of tablet required.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, woodworking, and cement work.
- Must be able to pass a level 1 background check.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License with a clean driving record and current private auto insurance policy.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence; ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations.
