Rides Controls Technician

join our rides control team as a rides control technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade electrical and electronic control systems on rides and attractions.

as a rides control technician, you will be responsible for the general maintenance, safety, inspections, troubleshooting, and upgrading of all electrical/electronic control systems on attractions to improve ride operational time while representing seaworld with a positive attitude and commitment to quality.

• perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all ride-related electrical/electronic systems used for attraction ride control, including power distribution up to 600 volts, ac/dc motors, relay logic, hydraulic and pneumatic control circuits, variable speed motor controllers, plcs, and closed-loop servo systems.
• diagnose electrical problems in hard-wired and software circuits.
• maintain proficiency in all manufacturing manuals related to each individual ride.
• perform annual plc program verification on all rides.
• monitor plc code and determine the best course for resolving recurring issues.
• complete all green tagging procedures on rides while upholding department safety standards, including test riding and inspections.
• complete all required documentation pertaining to each ride.
• have a working knowledge of basic pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• perform daily inspections on rides, attractions, elevators, and moving walkways.
• read and troubleshoot logic in plcs.
• program vfds and dc controllers.
• communicate ride-related questions or concerns to leadership.
• share knowledge and expertise with others.
• ensure excellent customer service by anticipating and responding to customer requirements, expectations, and needs.
• maintain a safe work environment by following all safety policies and procedures, including lock-out/tag-out and ppe.
• other duties as assigned.

• at least 2 years of related experience in an industrial environment or a combination of education and experience.
• electronic/electrical knowledge and troubleshooting skills.
• understanding of amusement ride operation from simple start/stop circuits to plc controllers.
• experience with variable-speed ac and dc drives.
• previous experience with rslogix 5000, step 7, twincat, and profibus is a plus.
• be at least 18 years of age.
• possession of a valid florida driver's license (or a valid license from the state of residency for students and military). Ability to complete the company vehicle driver training class and obtain an swf driver’s license.
• positive interaction with guests and co-workers of all ages, backgrounds, and individuals with special needs.
• strong written and verbal communication skills.
• basic mathematical skills.
• proficiency in reading and writing in english.
• regularly stand, sit, walk, use hands to manipulate equipment, and handle tools.
• able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, crouch, and work off ladders.
• comfortable working at heights up to 300 ft.
• good vision and the ability to adjust focus.
• able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• able to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
• able to work weekends, holidays, early mornings, and late evenings.
